1970s
Steve Kiln (BSc Biochemistry 1973) has been awarded the Professor Bob Boucher Distinguished Alumni Award by the University of Sheffield in recognition of his exceptional contributions to students and the University through The Twikker Fund.

Dr Peter Holden (MB ChB Medicine 1979) has been appointed Clinical Trustee and Chair of the Medical Committee at St John Ambulance.
1980s
Susanna McGibbon (BA Law 1989) has been appointed an Honorary Kingâs Counsel for her outstanding contribution to the field of Law.
Seng Choon Koh (BEng Engineering with Business Studies 1986) has been named The Singaporean of The Year by The Straits Times Singapore for his inspiring work empowering people with disabilities.
1990s
David Shirt (BA Business and Japanese Studies 1994) has been named Entrepreneur of the Year at the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan British Business Awards.
Alasdair Santini (MBBS Clinical Medicine 1992) has been elected President of The British Association for Surgery of the Knee (BASK) by the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA).
2000s
Catherine Harrison (AdvDip Adult Nursing 2002, BMedSci Acute and Critical Care Nursing 2009) has been awarded UK Nurse of the Year at the Nursing Times Awards 2024 for her outstanding work with patients with bleeding disorders.
Professor Gina Higginbottom MBE (PhD in Health and Related Research 2004) has been appointed a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. (Pictured above)
Abtisam Mohammed (MA Law 2008, PGDip Legal Practice 2009) has been elected as the Member of Parliament for Sheffield Central. She is the first Arab woman and the first Yemeni British MP in UK history.
Andrew Fishburn (BA Accounting and Financial Management 2007) has been featured in Forbes, where he shares his insights on the startup world in his role as Managing Director at Virgin StartUp.
Sarah Dodeen (MSc Information Management 2007) has been awarded Coach of the Year 2024 by Marleq Global Coaching Company.
2010s
Tendai Taruvinga (MArch Architecture 2016) has been featured in British Science Weekâs Smashing Stereotypes campaign for his innovative work in plant-based entrepreneurship.
Yuet Kwan Carman Leung (BA Journalism Studies 2018) has launched her own music and performing arts company, Hariah Music House, and is celebrating the debut of her first music album.
Manuel Fuentes Zepeda (MSc Sustainable Architecture 2013) has designed the 3D environments design for the video game Yars Rising.
Maria Argyraki (MA Japanese Studies 2010) has been awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays by the Japanese Government, in recognition of her efforts to introduce Japanese culture to Greece and foster mutual understanding between the two countries.
David Wetherill (BSc Biological Chemistry 2012) has made history by breaking the Guinness World Record for the fastest time to complete the London Marathon on crutches, finishing in an incredible time of under six hours.

Bryony Page (BSc Biology 2015, Hon LittD 2023) won the gold medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris in individual trampoline and was voted by her Paris 2024 teammates as the Olympians Olympian.
Hollie Pearne-Webb MBE (BA Economics 2013, Hon LittD 2023) captained Great Britainâs womenâs field hockey team at the 2024 Paris Olympics and has now announced her retirement from the sport, after leading England and Great Britain with distinction over the past six years.
2020s
Harry Robinson (BA Journalism Studies 2023) has been awarded the BA Student of the Year 2024 prize at the PPA (Professional Publishers Association) Next Generation Awards.
Dr Ademola Adetona (PhD MatScience & Engineering 2024) has been awarded a Chartered Chemist from the Royal Society of Chemistry.
Dr Qamar Naith (PhD Computer Science 2021) has been honoured with the prestigious Social Action Award at the British Council Alumni Awards in Saudi Arabia.

Isobel Comber (BSc Psychology 2024) has been published in the Cambridge Journal of Human Behaviour for her article, âEvaluating the Efficacy of Deep Brain Stimulation and Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors as Treatments for Obsessive Compulsive Disorderâ.
Abigail Kennett (BA International Relations and Politics 2023) co-founded A Fleet for Change, which has been named one of Business Insiderâs Most Exciting Companies of 2024.
GabrielÄ BarteĆĄkaitÄ (BSc Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science 2023), David Dixon (ERASMUS BS Economics 2019), Alexander La Fleur (MEng Mechanical Engineering 2022) and Alastair Roper (BEng Computer Systems Engineering 2022) co-founded Future Greens, a sustainable vertical farming startup based in Sheffield that has secured grants from Ashley Tate and Innovate UK to advance food security and reduce waste.
Conn Nagle (BA Accounting and Financial Management 2023) has been recruited by the Spanish team, Getafe BSR, to continue his career as a professional wheelchair basketball player.
